LO4: Feedback evaluation

After screen testing our film in front of an audience we have gathered feedback on survey money and we can see that we have improvements to make. We saw that at least everyone enjoyed what they saw on the film but we asked some questions on what could be better. In terms of the strengths of our film our feedback results show that our audience found our short film funny which was one of our goals to make a good comedy. In addition, we gained positive feedback on the camera shots we used as they gave the audience a sense of characters emotions trough facial expressions in the scenes and the location of atmosphere of were we filmed. We gathered a few comments complimenting our acting ability but I believe it could be improved.

We were told to potentially film in a few more locations as we only filmed in 6, 3 of them being inside the college. To achieve this we could have filmed more scenes which would better demonstrate what’s happening and what is being built up to. This would mean that all audience members understands what is happening as we had one member of the audience in the screen test who didn’t understand what the short film was about. Another piece of feedback we gained was the audio was faulty in the pool scene and when editing we had to increase the volume as you could hear our voices well. To improve this we could redo that scene with better sound equipment as that would make the short film look more professional and more enjoyable to watch. We were informed that our editing could be improved especially with the continuity of the film as sometimes it felt too fast paced and sudden when switching shots or scenes. To improve our continuity editing, we could use more transitions when switching from shot to shot or film multiple lines in one shot which would decrease the amount of times we need to cut up clips. If this is improved, our film will be much more better to watch as sometimes watching a film where parts are not edited well can be frustrating. In terms of minor improvements we had one or two comments about the camera being shaky which can easily be prevented by making sure when filming, everyone is away from the tripod so no one knocks it and we were told that the lighting could be improved in some areas as it may have been too dark which doesn’t suit the narrative of the short film.
